Stretch-Chair
Stretch-Chair is primarily developed to ease the work of first responders in emergencies where they have to extract physically constrained patients to the ambulance. The collapsible and compact design of this wheelchair-cum-stretcher allows easy maneuverability in tight residential spaces.
PROTOTYPES
History / Inspiration
One of our team members had a first-hand experience with the inconveniences caused during shifting patients between stretchers and wheelchairs. Owing to the size of stretchers present in ambulances, they cannot fit into average-sized homes and cramped spaces. Thus patients need to be manually brought out to the stretcher rather than the stretcher reaching out to them, which further causes them discomfort.
Brainstorming
Reducing the size of the stretcher to make it maneuverable in tight spaces and facilitate convenience to the patient while being shifted, hence, ideating a wheelchair cum stretcher which serves both the purposes by changing its form as per the need of the hour.
