Pain Areas associated with JTBD
1. Currently, the equipment used for the transportation of patients requires a lot of effort in their use, setup, and adjustments from both the paramedical staff as well as the patients. Paramedics have to exert manual and physical labor while shifting patients from a wheelchair to a stretcher. This leads to a significant decrease in their energy and activeness, in turn, making them strained physically and decreasing their productivity.
2. During shifting of patients from the stretcher to a wheelchair or vice-versa, many patients and paramedics experience a lot of difficulties and discomfort, which in some cases also results in injury on one or both sides during shifting.
3. Paramedics spend a lot of time shifting patients between stretchers and wheelchairs. For them, time is extremely valuable, especially during emergencies. This affects their efficiency to a great extent.
4. The wheelchairs and stretchers occupy a significant space in ambulances and hospital storage rooms. Due to this, hospitals have to invest a large sum of money buying expanded ambulances or large storage rooms for storing this equipment.
5. Major hospitals, especially private hospitals, have to spend a large amount of money on standard wheelchairs and stretchers. Likewise, patients too cannot afford the entire cost of a wheelchair for their mobility.
