The first prototype of Stretch-Chair is a simple design made after brainstorming and fetching together all the ideas thought of initially.

The structure majorly consists of a wooden framework along with a pair of tire-wheels at the back and castor wheels in the front to give the wheelchair-cum-stretcher a direction and some motion.
Features implemented:
The foldable leg-rest and back-rest formed the foundation of the product.
A combination of castor wheels and traditional wheels was implemented to keep a check on unwanted and unpredictable movement of the equipment.

Shortcomings noticed:
Absence of a locking and supporting mechanism for the back-rest and leg-rest.
Structural rigidity of wooden frame.
Instability of the equipment due to narrow wheel spacing.
Lack of structural support to the back-rest when the equipment is in stretcher configuration.
Lack of comfort and safety features for patients such as an armrest, foot rest, cushion, guard rails.
